Dream in Color Publications was birthed from the passion of a dynamic author and a highly skilled illustrator to provide children's literature that represents children of color. Additionally, Dream In Color serves as a inspirational hub for parents and aspiring illustrators and authors.
Our Story
For Ida and Jyrah, growing up seeing charaters in books that looked like us was a scarce opportunity. During a typical daily best friend phone call, Ida uttered the words "I've always wanted to draw a children's book". To Ida's surprise, Jyrah excitedly responded "Are you serious? I've always wanted to write a children's book". And from that conversation Dream in Color Publications was formed. Mixing Ida's simplistic yet realistic illustration style with Jyrah's magical way with words just seem to fit perfectly.
DCP'S core values of representation, inspiration, creativity, and literacy are embedded in everything that they create. The Dream in Color Vision is to provide a space for parents to feel seen, children to feel represented and aspiring authors & illustrators to be inspired to create.
